The Loverboy

Random Gentle Love Master (RGLM)

The Loverboy

FACT:You embody the German principle of Konstantzusammenschaft, which is best described in English (without using the obscure English word "sammenschaft") as "eternal togethermanship".

Well-liked. Well-established. You are The Loverboy. Loverboys thrive in committed, steady relationships—as opposed to, say, Playboys, who want sex without too much attachment.

You've had many relationships and nearly all of them have been successful. You're a nice guy, you know the ropes, and even if you can be a little hasty with decisions, most girls think of you as a total catch. Your hastiness comes off as spontaneity most of the time anyhow, making you especially popular in your circle of friends, too.

You know not to make the typical Loverboy mistake of choosing someone who appreciates your good humor and popularity, but who offers nothing in return. You belong with someone outgoing, independent, and creative. Otherwise, you'll get bored. And then instead of surprising her with flowers or a practical joke, you'll surprise her by leaving.

Your exact male opposite:

and it would be the last one for my undergraduate career if it weren't for those pesky kids.... or those two incompletes from last year, heh. but only one more for each of them, and then i get to enjoy my summer!

but i digress. this paper is a mash-up of two of my previous papers, one i posted on here about nietzsche and slave morality, and another one by john stewart mill on censorship. i don't want to spoil the ending for you, but it's about freedom. yea, i went there.

it is a long read, but i think you'll like it. click the link!

heya everyone. on looking at the way my friends page goes out, i am afraid that it might be kind of annoying that i dump these huge papers in here.

if this is the case, will someone show me how i can post them inside lj as a link, so that i could maybe give a few lines of description, and maybe an abstract along with the link, so if people want to read them they can, while at the same time not creating a 15' scroll on their friends page?

Update: Thanks to Supa (RobZaugg) for showing me how to do the lj-cut. Now my huge papers can be read by those who want to, without filling your friends page with tons of philosophy babel.

Here is my final paper for an independent study course I took this semester. It is fairly basic, but I think the concepts it highlights are useful ones to think about.

The working title is "An Introduction to Altered Awareness," in the
paper, I will cover the following: an explanation of the terms,
including the components of awareness; what it means or can me to
alter or change ones awareness; examples of common but overlooked ways
people make such changes; and hopefully I can tie in a good set of
reasons why it is benefical and perhaps necessary/inevitable for
people to alter their awareness.

A much maligned and oft misinterpreted philosopher, nietzsche... well, he was a strange guy. i advise anyone undertaking his study to do it thoroughly or not at all, lest it leave a foul taste in your mouth.

a lot of people who dont understand his work think of him as a sort of later machiaveli, a might makes right sort of guy. instead, he asserts that people should learn to understand their own power and not be dominated, as the struggle that ensues is necessary for the greatness and growth of humanity.

he also wasn't a big fan of religion or christianity, heh.

that said, here is a paper i wrote based on a small part of his philosophy: his understanding of morality. i hope you like it.

so... i got accepted into the master's program in philosophy at the U. i am so excited! now i know what i will be doing for the next two more years, heheh. also, i got the job at xmission - should be a lot of fun, a bunch of cool kids i know work there and its near my school.

not much volume in the update, but many great developments. now my only major concerns are getting a new apartment, scoring some funding for my graduate work, and making sure i actually graduate, heh.

Here is a political philosophy piece I wrote during my first semester (fall 2005) as a philosophy student. It was submitted to and accepted at a philosophy conference the next spring. Hope you like it.

Hello. I am not really one to post much about myself, at least not at the present. But, this doesn't mean I won't post writing.

I will most likely be posting philosophy papers I have written, and possibly the occasional short story or poem.

Hopefully you enjoy it.
